Former governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa has called on governor Aminu Tambuwal to, as a matter of duty, tell the people of Sokoto state how much he inherited from his predecessor, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko.
Bafarawa spoke at a questions and answer session with Journalists shortly after a meeting of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders’ in his house on Sunday.
“The Governor must tell the people of Sokoto state what he inherited from his predecessor, either in liabilities or cash at bank. Government is for the people and the money is theirs.
“They need to know what he inherited. He cannot continue to keep quiet because keeping quiet signifies he did not inherit cash at bank but liabilities.
“When I left office, I told the people of Sokoto state what I left for Wamakko. I still have the records, including the account number,” he told journalists.
Bafarawa insisted that governor Tambuwal cannot keep quiet for eternity because public trust is sacrosanct.
“The Governor cannot keep quiet for eternity. This is public trust; public funds owned by the people of Sokoto state. They must know about their funds,” he stressed.
Commenting on President Buhari’s re-election bid, Bafarawa said that for Buhari to re-contest and win election in 2019, he knows what to do because Nigerians were desirous of better service than what they now enjoy.
