The Presidency has cleared the air on the controversy raging over who will sign the 2017 budget.
Contrary to earlier the impression about an uncertainty over who will assent to it, Laolu Akande, media aide to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo said Wednesday his boss, ill assent to the 2017 budget when “everything is set, & he is satisfied”
Akande issued the clarification on his twitter handle Wednesday night as he tweeted: “Just so we are clear: when the time comes, everything is set, & he is satisfied, Ag. President YemiOsinbajo will assent to the 2017 Budget.”
Earlier in the day there was controversy over what information Minister Lai Mohammed said at his post FEC meeting briefing. The minister was was reported to have said ‘we don’t know who will sign the 2017 budget’.But the minister has debunked the reported insisting he never said so.
Therefore, the clarification from the presidency was evidently a response to the day’s controversy.
