Kano state government is to evolve measures aimed at stepping up security of lives and property in the state, according to the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The governor stated this during a multimedia presentation on security solutions by the management of Air Wave Ltd., led by Mr. Ajeet Batsa and Skytick International Ltd., represented By Mr. Wesley E. Jerry, at the Council chambers of the Government House in Kano.
He said the current security challenges in the country are such that ordinary arrangements cannot handle, pointing out that the state government plans to set up a security trust fund to cater for emerging security problems.
“It is a fact that our security agents sometime pretend to be screening vehicles while in reality they do not have the necessary sophisticated facilities to detect life – threatening objects in vehicles and on people. The Security Trust Fund would, therefore, ensure that the right equipment are supplied to enable our security officers function effectively”, Governor Ganduje stressed.
The governor said that although the government is facing financial challenges at the moment, it would set up a committee to critically assess the presentation on security solutions by the two firms, to enable it arrive at the best options to be adopted for public safety.
Meanwhile, the governor also received the new state Commandant of Nigerian Civil Security and Defense Corps, NSDC, Mr. M. Y. Aliyu, in his office. Governor Ganduje promised to support the corps to enable them function more efficiently.
