Contrary to some reports that the immediate past National Security Adviser,Colonel Sambo Dasuki was arrested last night, Newsdiaryonline has learnt that he still in his Abuja house,obviously under close security watch.
A source close the former told Newsdiaryonline: “I spoke with him last night and this morning.He is at home”.
Security operatives stormed the ex NSA’s Abuja home Thursday evening.Newsdiaryonline learned that the operatives actually gained access to Dasuki’s Abuja residence very late in the night possibly at about 1.00am.
They searched from from room to room and also searched his cars possibly for incriminating materials , the source alleged.
Insiders said the bigger puzzle remains the search conducted on the personal residence of former Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki the former NSA’s father in Sokoto.
“They also searched Baba Sarki’s home and even searched through empty envelops” one of Newsdiaryonline sources claimed.
The search on Sultan Dasuki’s residence has continued to raise anxiety over alleged return of payback.One insider recalled that just what we see as “get even time” after General Muhammadu Buhari was overthrown in 1984 by General Ibrahim Babangida.“We just believe it’s the return of vendetta over the 1984 saga”,he said.
“I guess they believe they are trying to get back at Baba Sarki over overthrow of Buhari’s regime.Recall that Sambo(the ex NSA ) became Babangida’s NSA.So there is the feeling that Baba Sarki (the former Sultan) had knowledge of the coup and they are after him now” a worried family member said.
“Otherwise there is no reason to search his house.Since he was dethroned by Abacha, Baba Sarki has been living in Kaduna( after release from detention) and they know it,”Newsdiaryonline was told
Sources close to the former NSA also alleged that the invasion as premeditated.One of those contacted alleged that the security operatives gained access to the ex NSA late in the night ,yet a story had been planted in a major newspaper claiming that he was being investigated for $15m seized in South Africa.
Speculation over the invasion of Dasuki’s house has continued because there has been no official statement from the DSS.An attempt by Newsdiaryonline to get a clarification from the presidency last night failed to elicit any insightful response.But Newsdiaryonline was clearly told that Buhari did not order the invasion of Dasuki’s residences.
