Ondo Deputy Impeached, Mimiko Appoints Successor

MimikoThe Deputy Governor Of Ondo State Alhaji Alli Olanusi was on Monday impeached by the State Assembly.

The impeachment followed the directive by the lawmakers to the Chief Judge of the state to set up a panel to investigate allegations against Olanusi.

Subsequently, the chief judge raised a  7-man panel which  found him guilty last week.

Reports said he was accused  essentially of absence from duty post as well as financial misconduct .

It could be recalled that Olanusi defected to the All Progressives Congress,APC before the presidential election in apparent protest against Governor Olusegum Mimiko who is now a Peoples Democratic Party,PDP stalwart.

Mimiko too was voted into office as a Labour Party,LP candidate before he defected after a protracted romance with President Goodluck Jonathan led PDP.

Meanwhile,Governor Mimiko has appointed  Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo  as the new deputy governor of the state.Reports said the state House of Assembly has also cleared the new deputy governor.
