Imagine losing all you have within seconds. Watch your loved ones slaughtered before your very eyes. Flee your homeland, becoming a refugee. Helpless. All hope lost. Unable to feed yourself unless someone gives you food to eat and no clothes on your back unless someone donates used clothing to you.
It’s a terrifying thought but that’s today’s reality for over a million internally displaced Nigerians due to the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
Countless innocent men, women and children have been killed and millions that survived their attacks have become internally displaced in own country. People that once fended for them selves have become dependent on relief and living in refugee camps. All hope lost with no future in sight.
Body Enhancement Foundation has taken the challenge of rehabilitating these internally displaced Nigerian women and children by empowering the women with making them self sufficient by through self made goods, trade and setting up schools for displaced children.
This will enable them regain their dignity, reintegrate into society, and fend for themselves. In Gombe State, they gave internally displaced women money to start petty trading, sewing machines, fabrics to trade, paid for shelter, and gave food donations. The children were given toys donated from America.
In Adamawa State, they opened a school for 501 displaced children in a camp and gave them uniforms, shoes, writing materials and hired teachers to start educating them.
Body Enhancement Foundation’s rehabilitation campaign for internally displaced Nigerians proceeds as they continue rehabilitate people in different camps in harboring States in North East Nigeria.
