Ahead of the PDP governorship primaries election, Taraba state police command- allegedly in concert with the State Acting governor, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danlandi- has withdrawn security details attached to former Acting governor and leading PDP governorship aspirant, Alhaji Garba Umar.
Also withdrawn were the security details of key supporters of the former acting governor and his political appointees.
The directive to withdraw the security aides was allegedly given during a security meeting with heads of security agencies in the state on Friday.
Consequently, the security details of former governor Umar, his SSG Garvey Yawe, and other political appointees during his administration did not resume their duty posts on Saturday morning.
Earlier in the week, former Acting Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar alleged that the state government and its cabal have concluded plans to intimidate and arrest him and his core supporters on trumped up charges.
He said the state government had resorted to the infamous plot to ensure that he is denied of every opportunity to participate in the governorship elections after all other plans had failed to stop him.
Garba Umar further alleged that agents of the state government also planned to invite law enforcement officers from outside the state to start a physical campaign of intimidation, harassment and arbitrary arrest of citizens on trumped up charges with a view to frightening them into submission or withdrawing their support for him.
