The Arewa Consultative Forum(ACF) has described the blockade at the National Assembly by the Police and the DSS as a conspiracy to scuttle democracy.

ACF alleged that it was the handiwork of President Goodluck Jonathan’s government so as to truncate Nigeria’s democracy and cause confusion in the polity.

The Rapid Response Committee of the ACF said this in a communiqué signed by the Secretary-General of the ACF and former Military Administrator of Kebbi State, Col. John Ubah (retd) made available to journalists in Kaduna.

ACF also chided northerners in government for not speaking against the confusion at the National Assembly, saying posterity would judge northerners who allied with government to misgovern the Nigeria.

“Northerners (in)  Jonathan’s government have not only remained passive but are also collaborators in the misgovernance, ineptitude, financial recklessness and mindless corruption in the country. This should not be so, but posterity will certainly be the best judge.”

“The ACF, as an umbrella body for the North, feels highly disgusted and indeed embarrassed to note that Northerners actively serving in the Federal Government in very high positions not only remained passive but are collaborating in the mis-governance, ineptitude, financial recklessness and mindless corruption in the country.”

ACF said the siege on the National Assembly was another impunity and disregard for the rule of law by the Jonathan administration.

“The meeting condemned the crude process of subverting the sanctity and independence of the legislature.”

“This action is a violation of the constitution and an insidious conspiracy to scuttle our young democracy,” ,

“President Jonathan should call on the police and other agencies of government to operate within the ambit of the constitution.”

“No meaningful progress can be achieved unless we allow our institutions of state to grow and perform their functions without undue interference.”
