The Arewa Youth Awareness Initiative Forum has commended the federal government’s Schools’ Agriculture Programme (SAP) initiated by the office of the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Schools’ Agriculture program, Hajiya Baraka Sani as a poverty eradication strategy.
This was contained in a statement signed by coordinator of the Initiative’s Kaduna State chapter, Comrade Labaran Abubakar.“The Schools’ Agriculture Program (SAP) will apart from helping to eradicate poverty also help in the area of nutrition and job creation especially in the rural areas,” said the statement.
“As such, the Kaduna State chapter of Arewa Youth Awareness Initiative Forum wishes to commend SAP as an excellent project that is aimed at promoting entrepreneurial skills among our youth which would help alleviate the ever deepening poverty levels in our country.
“The programme provides to its beneficiaries trainings on agriculture in areas as diverse as food and vegetable production through small scale irrigation, fisheries and aqua-culture, poultry, nutrition, processing and packaging, honey production as well as livestock production.”
