Fresh reports from Borno State in Nigeria’s north east said several Boko Haram members were killed between Friday night and Saturday morning in Abadam town as troops belonging to the Multi -National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) engaged the terrorists.
Corpses of at least two dozens of suspected Boko Haram terrorist s were seen in Abadam bushes after troops had recaptured the town, security sources told reporters in Maiduguri.
The insurgents had seized Abadam last week and embarked on a killing spree.Not than 4o persons were killed reports said.
“We have triumphed against the terrorists and more progress is being made towards liberating towns and villages; I can guarantee you that Abadam is now secured”,said senior military source who spoke with journalists by telephone Maiduguri
Also, reports said some of the residents of Abadam who had fled in different directions have been returning home .Some of them had fled to Niger Republic as Boko Haram unleashed terror on the town.
One of those who returned home ,Mr Aliyu Goni also spoke to journalists by telephone thus: “I saw many dead bodies as we were returning to Abadam after the soldiers encouraged us to go back home. There were many corpses of the Boko Haram members in Arge ward where the leader of the Boko Haram that led the insurgents into Abadam was seen issuing orders”.
