Gov.-Sullivan-Chime_EnuguEnugu Roots Initiative (ERI) in condemning recent illegal landing of an helicopter at the Government House, Enugu, declared that “enough is enough”.
The body at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja stated that “those who chose Enugu Government House to practive their gangsterism must stop it”.
It commended Governor Sulivan Chime over his calmness inspite of the provocations and called on other political leaders to emulate such virtues of equanimity.
Chairman of ERI, Barr. Joni Icheka, who spoke after the meeting insisted that with the technical facilities and competences required to acquire license to fly an aircraft, the Pilot of the ill-fated chartered Aero Contractors helicopter which “landed” at the Government House should be properly investigated as he has no excuses whatsoever to give over what he did.
“The other time, some hoodlums which calls itself The Biafra Zionist Movement had invaded the same Government House in Enugu. Now, it is the turn of a pilot flying an helicopter. Who knows what next.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Enugu State Government has demonstrated that it is a peace and development-loving government. We find it difficult to understand why the sanctity of the Enugu Government House should always be violated with impunity. Enough is enough; we shall not tolerate any of such act again.
“While we demand that a thorough investigation be carried out into why the helicopter should land in Enugu Government House, we also demand that the report of such inquiry should be made public so that if any sinister motive is intended, it would be manifestly known.
“Enugu Government House is not a testing ground for gangsterism or hoodlums to stage experiments. We charge the security agencies to get to the root of the matter and halt such intentions in the future,” ERI stressed.
On the forthcoming general elections, ERI urged politicians to see the contest as opportunity to further develop the state and contribute to the continued development of Enugu state rather than engage in mud-slinging and character assassinations.
He also called on law enforcement agencies to start early to carry out SWOT analysis so as to ensure peaceful primaries.
