Presidential Spokesman ,Reuben Abati has moved to assure Nigerians over the shootings reported today at the headquarters of the State Security Service,SSS.
Though the scene of the heavy gunfire was close to the Presidential villa, Abati said there was no cause for Alarm.
Abati gave these assurances in his comments on his twitter handle on Sunday. “What happened at the SSS HQs has nothing to do with the Villa. President Jonathan is safe & well. Thank you for your concern & support.
He added “What happened at the SSS HQ this morning was an attempted jailbreak which has been effectively foiled. There is no cause for alarm.”
In fact, the photograph (above) sent out earlier Sunday by media aides to the First Lady showed “President Goodluck Jonathan and the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan in a warm embrace during the Special Service to mark Mothering Sunday at the Aso Villa Chapel, Presidential Villa, Abuja.”
