Proprietors of Senior Secondary Schools have been warned to shun exam malpractice and ensure uprightness in the conduct of examinations so as to save the education system from total collapse.

Executive Secretary, National Senior Secondary Education Commission Dr. enjamin Abakpa gave the warning recently in his office when the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools,ASUSS, paid a working visit on him.

Abakpa said that, the act of extolling exam malpractice in the senior secondary schools will not only destroy the education system but will further jeopardise the future of Nigerian students.

He described as regrettable, the inability of some students in the tertiary institution to defend their SSCE result obtained in their various secondary schools.

Emphasising the need for co-operation from the teachers, Dr. Abakpa tasked proprietors on developing secondary education, securing Nigeria’s children and ensuring basic sanitation in schools, adding that this required that all hands must be on deck to achieve the desired results.

Speaking earlier, the National President Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools,ASUSS, Omaji Samuel expressed gratitude on emergence of the Commission, saying that it is a new dawn for senior secondary education, and
emphasised that the Union is readily determined to collaborate with NSSEC to see the glory of the Senior Secondary education is fully restored.
