The third Nigeria Pilot/Newsworld lecture and Man of the Year as well as Woman of the Year awards will take place Monday December 16 in Abuja,Mr Dennis Sami,group chairman and publisher of the newspaper and magazine said on Wednesday.He said the event which will shall Alhaji Tanko Yakassai as Chairman will hold at the Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Hotels and Towers Abuja.President Goodluck Jonathan is scheduled to be the special guest of honour.
The publisher added that the lecture titled: National Dialogue and the Future of Nigeria will be delivered by Deputy Senate President,Ike Ekwermadu.The discussants of the paper will include Professor Sam Egwu of UNDP and Professor Julius Okogie of the National Universities Commission,NUC.Chief Edwin Clark will be the father of the day.
This year’s event is aimed at consolidating on achievements the publisher said.He added that unlike in the past, only about four awards will be given out this year at the event which will be transmitted live on AIT and NTA.
Mr Sami said the Nigerian Pilot has a very liberal approach to journalism in Nigerian and the newspaper has the entire Nigerian nation as its constituency.He admitted that though there are obvious challenges ,the Nigerian pilot has lived up to expectation.
