The Kano State Consumer Protection Council, KSCPC, says it has intercepted a truck laden with suspected fake sex enhancement drugs on its way into the state.

The spokesman of the agency, Nabilusi Abubakar, in a statement recently, said the consignment was nabbed along Wappa, Fagge Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the drugs were mostly men sexual enhancement drugs without NAFDAC registration number.

He added that the interception followed a tip-off by some patriotic citizens, noting that the products if allowed into the market, could cause harm to the health and lives of the people of the state.

The statement also said the council had intercepted another trailer transporting  milk product earlier contaminated after a fire incident.

“But the products were discovered to have been repackaged and on their way back into the markets which prompted the Council to seize the items believed to have an effect on the health of the general public,” the statement disclosed.

The spokesman added that the acting Managing Director of the Council, Baffa Dan’agundi, reaffirmed the Council’s readiness to rid the state of all forms of fake, expired and unwholesome products.

He, therefore, called on the people of Kano not to relent in reporting to the Council any suspect dealing in the illicit business of drug trafficking in the state.

The statement also quoted Mr Dan’agundi as saying that his doors are always open for people to report any bad eggs in the society, assuring a reward package and identity protection for any tip-off.
