Eid El Kabir:Shettima Gives 540 Bulls To The Less Privileged In Borno

In the spirit of the forthcoming Eid El Kabir sallah celebrations, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has approved the distribution of 540 bulls to the less privileged Muslims ‘who cannot afford the ‘Eid Kabir sacrifice’ in Maiduguri metropolis, comprising Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere Local Government Councils.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Mr. Inuwa Bwala and made available to newsmen in Maiduguri Friday.

The statement added that Governor Shettima has also constituted a high powered committee comprising of religious leaders, traditional rulers and officials of the affected Local Government Areas, as well as representatives of the state Government and they have been mandated to work out modalities for effective and efficient distribution of the bulls.

The committee according to the statement has since commenced work and will announce the venues for the collection of the bulls before the Sallah day.

It further stated that, “Governor Shettima kindly urges residents and beneficiaries to conduct themselves orderly”.
The statement advised those who can afford the sacrifice to please allow their brothers who cannot afford it to benefit from the gesture, pointing out that, each of the 15 Wards of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere Local Government Council respectively are to have 20 bulls each to be slaughtered and shared to the poor residents.

Governor Shettima while wishing all citizens of the state happy Eid El Kabir in advance, also urged the Muslim Ummah to use the period and pray for the restoration of peace and tranquility in the state and the country in large.
