The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has expressed shock and deep sadness over an air accident involving an aircraft belonging to Associated Airlines conveying the remains of former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Segun Agagu, describing the crash as a national tragedy.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu on Thursday called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash, with a view to preventing a reoccurrence.
A statement by Governor Aliyu’s spokesman, Danladi Ndayebo said far from the rituals of
mourning the victims of air mishaps and ordering a probe, this latest crash must not be allowed to go the way of the previous ones.
“The safety of the flying public must be of paramount importance to those
saddled with the responsibility of ensuring safe air travels, and no stone should be left unturned in ensuring this,” the forum said.
The forum expressed its condolences to the government and people of Ondo State, the
family of late Governor Agagu as well as the families of all those who died in the crash.
It prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss, grant the deceased eternal rest
and quick recovery to those who sustained injuries.
….Condole with Yuguda over Sister’s Death
The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has urged Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State to take heart and be strong, after the death of his Sister, Hajiya Hafsatu Ummi.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State,Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu on Thursday urged Governor Yuguda not to be discouraged by Hajiya Hafsatu’s untimely death, but should forge ahead with the enormous task of providing good leadership to the people of Bauchi State.
The condolence message contained in a press statement signed by Governor Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo said the best tribute Governor Yuguda can pay to the memory of the departed is for him to continue to touch more lives positively, as he has been doing for decades.
The statement prayed to God to give Governor Yuguda and the members of his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and to grant eternal rest to the soul of the departed.
