A traditional ruler in Taraba, Chief David Gbaa, on Wednesday, called on relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure social justice for all in the state.
Gbaa, who is the Ter Tiv Bali and Chairman, Taraba Tiv Traditional Leaders’ Council, made the call during the 20th annual Tiv Day celebrations in Bali Local Government area of the state.
According to him, social justice will serve as a way of solving the incessant conflicts in the state.
He said that when people felt that they were not being treated fairly, they were bound to resist certain government decisions, adding that this could result in conflicts.
“We have to ensure that social justice is served to those who deserve it, not minding their religious, ethnic or political affiliations, if we must move forward.
“Today, incessant conflicts have caused untold hardships to the people of Taraba and this has hampered our development.

“This is the time for government and concerned stakeholders to look inward and ensure that genuine agitations by the people are addressed in the interest of peace and development in the state,” he said.
The Guest Speaker at the occasion, Rev. Daniel Anum, called on the Tiv people of Taraba to return to God in prayers as a way of solving their problems.
Anum reminded those in power that everybody was important in the Taraba project and not only during elections, urging them to rule with the fear of God.
In his remarks, the President-General, Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Chief Joshua Ayagwa, commended the efforts of the Ter Bali at maintaining peace in his domain.
Ayagwa called on the people to continue to live in peace with one another to enhance a better society. (NAN)
