In an effort towards eradicating polio disease in Kaduna State,  the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with an NGO, Journalists Against Polio (JAP) organized local theaters in ‘non- ‘areas last week.

The ‘non compliance’ areas where the local theaters were conducted include  Kawo in Kaduna North, Unguwar  Mu’azu and Kurmin Mashi in Kaduna South,Babban dodo and Tukurtukur in Zaria as well as Rigasa in Igabi local government.

During the exercise, hundreds of children most especially those refusing to be immunized by their parents, received the routine immunization.

Commenting on the exercise , a farmer from Tukurtukur in Zaria Mohammad Maishayi called on the parents most especially   those who  didn’t want their children to be immunized to change their attitude for the betterment of their children.

According to him “two years back I was among those condemning the polio vaccines but when I hard sheikh  Dr Ahmed Gumi calling on the people to accept the vaccines, I started allowing the vaccinators into my house to immunize my kids”

Also speaking, a medical doctor with WHOM in Kaduna, Dr W. Terna said the routine immunization was aimed at making the children to healthy.

He then counseled the people most especially those refusing their children to be immunized to accept the exercise with their two hands to make their children grow healthier for the progress of the country.
