The Vice President, Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo, at the Special Juma’at Prayers in commemoration of the 2013 Democracy Day Celebrations and the Second Year Anniversary of the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Administration, appealed to Nigerians to continue to be their brothers’ keeper.
Vice President Sambo who spoke after the Juma’at Prayers said “I call upon all Nigerians to be our brothers’ keeper and to continue to give this administration the support that is necessary for the achievement of our Transformation Agenda.”
Arc Sambo further said “We thank Almighty Allah for again showing us this day that we are celebrating our democracy day and the second year of this administration. We thank Almighty Allah again for the continued granting of good health and guidance to our President, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the whole administration and also for the successes that we have been witnessing in providing the dividend of democracy to Nigerians.”
The Juma’at Prayers observed by members of the Federal Executive Council, top Military, Para-military and Police chiefs, government functionaries, royal fathers; members of the diplomatic corps and several hundreds of Muslim faithful was led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Ustaz Musa Muhammad, who prayed Almighty Allah for continued peace and tranquility in the country.
Nigeria’s Democracy Day is held on May 29 annually to commemorate the return of democratic rule in the country. This year’s celebration is particularly special as it heralds the forthcoming Nigeria Centenary Celebrations. The Celebration would also witness Interdenominational Christian Service on Sunday, May 26, 2013 and the Presentation by President Jonathan the Administration’s Mid-Term Report on Wednesday, May 29, 2013.
