kalu  700Founder and President of Slok Group, Dr. Orji Kalu, has identified partnerships as key to business growth and expansion. Kalu said this at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Slok Group of Nigeria and the Prime Group of India at the residence of the Founder/Chairman of Prime Group, Padmashree Surinder Mehta.
Kalu traced the history of how Slok Group started as a one man trading company and grew to a conglomerate with vast interests in shipping, banking and insurance, publishing, real estate, agriculture, oil and gas, logistics among others.
He further stated that due to the desire of the company to grow, it is in partnership with leading business entities globally on technical and financial basis.
He said: “Today, I am glad that we are witnessing yet another feather to our cap as we sign this MOU for a mutually beneficial relationship.”
Kalu noted that Nigeria is blessed with abundant human and natural resources, which are yet untapped.
He encouraged foreign investors to ignore faulty generalization about Nigeria, while noting that every country, both developed and developing, is faced with social vices.
He identified many multinational companies that have sustained their businesses in Nigeria.
He congratulated Prime and Slok groups for the giant stride.
Surinder narrated how the partnership with Slok Group was initiated by his son, the CEO Prime Electric, Rohan Mehta.
He said his son met Kalu in a plane and they got chatting on general issues, including business, and his son was so marveled with the entrepreneurship spirit of Kalu.
He said as a result of the interesting discussion, Kalu extended an invitation to host Rohan in his house.
Surinder said Nigeria is a priority in their expansion plan, adding: “We are happy to be in partnership with a global company: Slok group.”
He described the partnership as the beginning of greater success for both Slok and Prime groups.
He said: “Prime group has the same success story with Slok Group, having been in business for the past 27 years and starting as a one business as well.”
He further stated that with a common ideology and vision, the sky is the limit for the the partnership.
The partnership is to cover engineering services, including manufacturing of engineering products, components and systems, construction and reconstruction, power projects and manufacture of power sector related products.
The multimillion dollar steel rolling mill project to be sited in Igbere, Abia State, will be the first project to be executed under the MOU between the two companies.
