Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Alhaji Abdulazeez Arisekola Alao and Professor Isiaq Oloyede over their appointments as Deputy National President and Secretary General, respectively of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
The former Vice-President, in a press statement by his media office in Abuja said the emergence of Arisekola and Oloyede both respected voices in the Islamic affairs of the country, marks the birth of a new era in the promotion of inter-faith dialogue and unity in Nigeria.
He said Olorode, a renowned and cerebral scholar of Islamic Studies will bring added impetus to the promotion of inter-faith relations in the country.
“It is a cheering news to hear about the emergence of Arisekola and Olorode as the new Deputy National President and Secretary-General, respectively of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs. Their backgrounds will invariably add more gusto to the promotion of inter-faith relations in the country and the promotion of peace in Nigeria,” Atiku said.
The former Vice President urged the new Deputy National President and Scribe of the NSCIA to build on the goodwill already established by their predecessors in office, and put a fresh vibe to the ongoing conversation between Muslims and Christians, particularly at this time when the country is in a search of a better religious harmony.
