‘Traffic Jam’ Delays Commuters for over 6 hours Along Lokoja – Abuja Road

Commuters travelling along the Lokoja – Abuja road were Thursday trapped for over six hours.Newsdiaryonline.com learnt that stranded passengers ran out of food and water supply just as time equally out on them .Also they have expressed fears for their personal security on the road.

Convinced that they may be forced to spend the night on the trapped point of the Lokoja end of the road one of the stranded commuter, Comrade Chuks Ehirim, Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Abuja chapter said the situation is indeed embarrassing. He called on the media and the government to ensure that the relevant authorities are tasked to provide commuters with water and security during the night.
Comrade Chuks said this in a text message which reads: “The traffic jam on the Lokoja-end of the Lokoja – Gwagwalada Road has become a national embarrassment, trapping commuters for over seven hours within a distance of less than five kilometers.
“As I write this, I ve been almost on the spot for over five hours,between 12.57 and 5.00pm I left Umuahia at 6.30am after the three day NUJ NEC meeting which ended yesterday
“One may be moved to call for relief materials (food and water) for those trapped there as there is nothing to eat or drink. Govt should also provide security for those who are going to pass the night there today,” Ehirim stated.
