    The Nigeria Professional Football League flagged off with teams ending the weekend with   different strokes.  There was a big  causalty in the 2-1 victory recorded by league  debutants Nembe City football club over league giant,, Heartland fc of Owerri .Also  reigning champions, Kano Pillar booked  1-0 away win against Wikki Tourist in Bauchi  in the  second day of clashes  in the 2012/2013 league spell.

    The local derby  tagged  fight of brotherhood between Kwara United versus Bukola  Saraki Babes at the Ilorin stadium ended in a goal drought.

    League debutants, Nembe  went into Sunday evening  as underdogs, as their  Owerri  opponent were favorably disposed  to pouch an away point Heartland are in a dilemma as they will be travelling away to  Warri Wolves to honour their second game of the season.

    Nembe would  be in for another  litmus test in  their second match, when  they play host to Rangers International of Enugu.

    In other matches played in centres across the country, on Sunday evening,  Kaduna United went down to Sunshine in Akure, while the Issa ladan Bosso tutored Bayelsa United pipped  Lobi Stars of  Markurdi at the Samson Siasia stadium in Yenagoa on Sunday evening.

    Bayelsa will  travel the lengthy road to Kano  for an encounter with league reigning champions Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha stadium. Eyimba who lost in their opener to Rangers fc by a lone goal will play host to returnees Nassarawa United, while  Sunshine who managed slim 1-0 victory over Kaduna United will take the battle to Kwara United in Ilorin.

    The league fixture involving  league returnees, Nassarawa United versus El Kanemi  fc of Maidugri ended 2-0 in favor of the home side.
