The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State has lambasted the opposition parties in the state over their persistent criticism of the Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu-led PDP Government, describing the parties as indolent and frustrated. The Party described the allegation of impropriety in key projects initiated by the current administration as idle-talk that can only emanate from a warped mind.

PDP State Publicity Secretary, Hon Hassan Mohammed Saba said in a release issued on Thursday that time has come for the Congress for Progress Change(CPC),Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP)  to be told to their faces that the party would not sit back and watch them rubbish the Dr Aliyu led PDP Government. Saba said the accusation of disregard for due process in the execution of its projects has been severally addressed by both Governor Aliyu’s media handlers and the Niger State House of Assembly which threw out a similar petition sometime last year and wondered why the same issues are being recycled.

The party said such a cheap blackmail can only come from a lazy opposition, emphasizing that through the unwarranted and inscrutable allegation, the opposition parties in the state are merely trying to overheat the polity and to give the impression that all is not well in the state.

“While we agree that government at all levels should be criticized constructively, we must say that political parties like CPC,ACN and ANPP lack moral rights to turn themselves into perpetual critics of every action of the state government”, the statement said.

The party said while it does not intend to abridge the right of the opposition to criticize government activities, it cautioned that blackmailing the government, is not in any way synonymous with constructive criticism.
