Justice Saliu Saidu of the Federal High Court Ikoyi Lagos has remanded a businessman, Cajetan Chike Muonagolu in prison custody on a four count charge of dealing in adulterated and substandard engine oil.
This is contained in a statement by Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and made available to Newsdiaryonline in Abuja, Friday.
According to the statement, Muonagolu was arraigned for allegedly breaking and removing official seals of SON as well as evacuating 15,000 cartons of adulterated engine oil.
“He broke and removed the official seal of SON and evacuated 15,000 cartons of suspected adulterated/substandard engine oil which SON put on hold. He also assaulted and beat up SON officials in the course of their lawful duties,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the court has ordered the prosecution and defence counsels to visit the warehouse in order to ascertain the allegations labelled against the accused.
The matter was adjourned to 20th May, 2019 for commencement of trial.
