Following the attack which occurred on Sunday at a military base in Garkida, Gombi Local Government area of Adamawa State by suspected Boko Haram terrorists, no fewer than four soldiers, and 6 civilians have been feared dead .
Similarly, 30 persons were feared killed by gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect in some communities of Hong and Madagali Local government Areas of the state.
The armed gunmen, numbering 100 had on Sunday evening ,while reportedly on a revenge mission, stormed military check points, police out posts at about 8pm in Toyota Hilux vehicles and motorbikes, state officials and locals have revealed.
Confirming the attacks, on Monday the state Acting Governor Ahmad Umaru Fintiri said that four soldiers were killed during the attack, it’s unfortunate that four gallant soldiers died , he said.
At least 30 persons were feared killed by unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect in some communities of Hong and Madagali Local government Areas in Adamawa state.
An eyewitness account said that the unknown gunmen attacked the communities on Sunday morning just as, the village head of Zar community in Hong local government a retired wing commander Dauda Daniel is still missing .
A fleeing villager who simply identified himself as Marcus Baba in a telephone interview said that the whereabouts of a retired wing commander Dauda Daniel leader of Zar community was still unknown following the attack on Zar community.
Baba, a relative of Mr. Daniel said the community leader is yet to be found,as there are concerns that he may have been abducted by the gunmen.
‘’ They killed ten people in my village,so many had to flee, and as I am talking to you know I am in Hong town,our village head is still missing,’’ said the fleeing Marcus Baba.
The worst affected community is Mubeng where it was gathered that 20 persons were reportedly butchered by the marauding gunmen.
A local farmer Dauda Moses has said that,’’ they just killed people; I saw over 20 corpses murdered in cold blood,’’ he said.
The figure of those killed in Lube was yet to be ascertained said one of the villagers who fled the community as a result of the attacks.
An eye witness who identified himself as Lazarus said most of the people in his lubeng community were able to scamper to safety before the rampaging gunmen got to their village.
He said the casualty he envisaged would be children and the aged who could not hurriedly make it to a safe location before the invaders got to their community.
It could be recalled here that only last week, unknown gunmen also attacked gaya communty klling over 13 persons in the aftermath of the attacks. Zar, Mubeng and Lubeng are all located in Hong local government area of Adamawa state.
Similarly, villages of Kuda –kaya and Kuduku in Madagali local government areas were equally attacked during which no fewer than six persons were reportedly killed as the marauding gunmen carted away w food stuff and cattles.
‘’They attacked Kuda-Kaya and Kuduku villages ,killing atleast six people and stoled food stuffs and cattles from the villagers,’’ said Mr James Abawu Watharda,chairman Madagali local government area in a telephone interview.
The Adamawa state police command had confirm the attacks, but the police spokesman in the state ASP Haa Micheal could not give details.
Micheal said the command heard of the attacks in the Hong and Madagali areas but however didn’t have any details of the attacks because it was yet to be relayed to the headquarters .
