A total of 10 Quranic reciters out of the 60 who emerged winners on Sunday at the Edo State Musabaqah would represent the state at the 32nd National Quranic Recitation Competition on December 28, in Gombe State.
The selection of the representatives was done at a mini competition held at Auchi, in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo.
The Coordinator, Edo State Musabaqah Committee, Sheikh Ibrahim Oyarekhua, said 104 reciters participated in the mini competition.
“104 reciters participated in the competition while 60 emerged winners in five categories, but only 10 reciters from the state are expected to participate at the national competition.
“10 reciters will represent the state in the male and female categories. The 10 would be picked from the 60 participants who emerged from this completion.
“We will pick first and second position in all the categories and they will be camped from December 3 to 26 before embarking on the journey to Gombe state. ,” he said.
Oyarekhua commended, Gov. Godwin Obaseki for giving enormous support to the state Musabaqah committee which made it possible for the state to perform excellently in previous competitions.
The Otaru of Auchi, Aliru Momoh urged the participants to continue to practice so that they would be victorious at the competition.

” Recitation of the Quran is a message of Allah, if you have in your heart when it is being read whether you understand the language or not, it gives you the good pleasure of Almighty Allah, when you heard it being recited it goes to the root of the heart,” he said.
The Chief Iman of Benin, Abdulfatai Enabulele, said the competition is aimed at maintaining the standard of Islam in the state so that children would be able to memorise and understand the message of Allah as contained in the Holy Quran.
” It is also to encourage the younger ones to strive to know the Quran, which is the word of Allah; memorise it and understand the meaning so that when they grow up they will not forget the words of Allah and also teach their children,” he said.
The 32nd National Quranic Recitation Competition in Gombe would hold from December 28 to January 5, 2019.
