… Speaks Against Voter Attitude

Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto state has described as discouraging the attitude of Nigeria’s many eligible voters, who chose to remain at home on election days, instead of coming out to vote for persons of their choice.
He spoke in his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto on Thursday when some groups and associations paid him traditional Sallah homage.
According to him, such habit was inimical to the nation’s hard-earned democracy. “It is most unfortunate and regrettable that most Nigerians who are eligible to vote, shun the polling stations on election days.
“We should not only always be patriotic to collect our voter cards but also use same on election days to peacefully cast our votes,” Wamakko said.
He argued that that would ensure the entrenchment of democracy while making individual choices. “If we refuse to collect our voter cards and use them to cast our votes, then we will not be able to bring the desired change in the country.”
