The 2017 Katsina SWAN Inter-Media Football Competition being organised by the Katsina State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) began on Monday in Katsina.
In the opening match, Katsina State Television (KTTV) defeated Vision FM 4-0, while in the second match Katsina State Radio defeated Companion FM 2-0.
Abdullahi Tanko, the State Chairman of SWAN, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Katsina that the competition would help journalists in the state to keep fit.
“The Katsina SWAN Inter-Media football competition for 2017 has started with the aim of fostering unity among working journalists in the state.
“But the major aim of organising the competition is to improve the journalists’ mental and physical fitness so as to perform their duties effectively.
“The idea is also to promote football and other sports activities in Katsina and the nation in general,’’ he said. (NAN)
