A former diplomat and one time Governor of Adamawa State, Amb James Barka has refuted claims that he had defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

A member of the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative PCNI, Barka in a statement by the Head of Media and Communications of the Initiative, Alkasim Abdulkadir said his membership of the All Peoples Congress APC (APC) was unequivocal.

The former Ambassador to Malaysia said he was confident in the renewed national leadership of the party to entrench a culture of inclusivity.

Barka therefore called on the general public to disregard numerous news reports that purportedly claimed he had defected to another party after a visit by Adamawa State PDP Chairman to him on 10th of August.

He further restated his support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari especially the prioritization of numerous social investment programs and the infrastructure drive in North East.
Barka was sworn in as Acting Governor of Adamawa State in February 2008 and handed back power to Governor Murtala Nyako on 29 April 2008 after the former governor had won the re-run election.
He has been a member of the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative since the Committee was established in October 2016.
