#TrackNigeria: Majority of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members-elect for the Sokoto State House of Assembly have boycotted the joint orientation workshop organized by Sokoto state government, which took place in Kaduna this week.

A statement by Bashir Mani, Special Assistant to Senator Aliyu Wamakko made available to Newsdiaryonline Saturday said, the State chapter of the party, instead organized a parallel induction workshop for its members to prepare them for legislative duties.

Speaking at the workshop venue in Abuja, the State chairman of the party, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida said the action was taken “as a protest and in solidarity with the teeming supporters of the party in Sokoto State, who continue to suffer discrimination in the hands of an inept and insensitive government in Sokoto, whose stock in trade is political vindictiveness and neglect of the people that brought it to office.”

Achida alleged that Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal wasted his first “tenure hobnobbing across the country, instead of caring for his people.”

“Governor Aminu will pale into insignificance when compared to his contemporaries in Lagos and Borno who are busy commissioning landmark projects while he will have no legacy to leave behind when he is finally sacked by the election tribunal, an event he said is sure to happen,” the statement read.

He commended the members-elect’s foresight in boycotting the state government sponsored workshop and showing solidarity with the party, while describing the action as an eloquent testimony of their concern for Sokoto APC supporters and what they were currently passing through.

The Chairman also urged them to participate actively in the workshop, so that they could benefit from the wealth of experience of the credible resource persons carefully chosen to conduct the workshop.

Eminent dignitaries who graced the occasion included the All Progressives Congress (APC), Deputy Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Faruku Malami Yabo, members of the National Assembly and party elders, among others.
