David-UmaruThe All Progressives Congress,APC Senator representing Niger East Federal Constituency, David Umaru has queried the composition of the transition committee raised by the incoming APC administration in Niger State.

The senator said in a statement Monday “The composition of the transition committee in Niger State ought to have been given a more serious consideration. One would ordinarily think our state would have emulated the  principle behind the well-thought out and the readily available template of our party leader and president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari whose transition committee packs a good deal of patriotism, experience and credibility.  Why didn’t we copy from that?

“We must not choose people based on political considerations alone, every individual must have a specific purpose on the committee; for the reason that our people are tired.  The PDP, especially in Niger State, wasted 16 years of our time.  Therefore, we, who promise change, should not implement the template of the disgraced PDP, lest we enrage our people, disappoint them and get humiliated in a similar fashion.

He said further, “We must not trifle with this mandate that was freely given to us by the people. We’re obligated to serve them and do right to fulfill our responsibilities.  Finally, please, let’s not go the way of PDP, let’s partner, appoint, and engage good selfless people in Niger State.

According to the senator who was recently sworn “In these moments, proper consultation must be done to recruit credible and capable people.  We must select professionals who can ask hard questions, know where to look and not afraid to do the right thing – individuals who embody selflessness.

“Fortunately, our state is laden with such people, so why didn’t we use them?

“As a senator, one feels concerned to get it right from the beginning. And I’ll be remiss of my duties to sit and watch while my state deteriorates in the ways of the old.

He noted that “At this transition period, every patriotic citizen is at once hopeful and anxious about what the wave of change is beckoning and how the change managers will proceed from here. It therefore becomes imperative that proper consultations be made prelude to critical decision as this.

“As a newly elected leader, I’m interested, as we all should be, about what’s going on at the national level and especially concerned about my immediate constituency, Niger State.
