d Yahaya, Controller General SAESI, made this known in a press briefing to lunch the project “Kaduna Must Be Clean and Safe for the Betterment of the Citizens” on Monday in Kaduna.

According to him, the project aims to ensure proper evacuation of waste by Private Service Providers (PSPs), tackle indiscriminate waste disposal by residents and road users.

” We are pleased to inform residents of the state, PSPs, corporate organizations, mechanics, motor parks, and interstate commuters that Gov. Uba Sani, through the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abubakar Buba, has launched the project,” he stated.

Yahaya said that SAESI officers would be actively present across the state to educate and monitor both residents and service providers on the importance of maintaining a safe and clean environment.

He said that the project’s success relies on community involvement, urging citizens to fulfill their social responsibilities by managing drainage systems properly while utilizing waste bags supplied by Ecoblue to reduce littering.

The controller general cautioned residents against disposing of waste at median separators in areas such as Sabo Tasha, Kawo New Extension and Television, warning that offenders would face legal consequences.

He also urged the households to regularly clear their drains and warned against channeling waste into drainage systems.

Yahaya appealed to the residents to maintain a clean and safe environment, stating that it would make Gov. Uba Sani proud to lead law-abiding citizens.

“We are ready as SAESI officers to fulfill our mandate,” he affirmed.

Also speaking,  Dr Abdul Isiaq, Special Adviser to the Governor on Stakeholders, praised SAESI for its support towards environmental health safety.

He said that SAESI had previously assisted in clearing drains to avert flooding during the rainy season in collaboration with the Abubakar Buba-led Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

Yahaya said,  “This launch is part of our campaign promise to provide clean and healthy environment to residents and we are dedicated in achieving this goal.”(NAN)
