Conference of Nigerian Political Parties {CNPP} has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to as a matter of urgent national importance to call for truce in the Rivers State Saga ,especially when the life of Governor Chibuike Amechi of Rivers State is in danger.
“We are making this call because the kitchen-battle is getting out of hand by the day; especially with the unconscionable withdrawal of the military detachment stationed at the Rivers State Government House yesterday. Hence placing Governors Amechi’s life in a cliff-hanger of thoroughly compromised Commissioner of Police”Osita Okechukwu ,CNPP’s spokesman said .
Specifically,CNPP cautioned the president thus,“Mr President, no matter what your cronies might tell you, CNPP is of the candid view that it is in your enlightened self-interest to call for a truce in the kitchen-battle; otherwise you will be the greatest loser at the end of the day.
“In sum, the Nigerian State cannot be hurt badly, especially when two notorious factors – religion and ethnicity are absent in the kitchen-battle” CNPP said.
“CNPP need not remind President Jonathan that as C-in-C of the Armed Forces of Nigeria that either by commission or omission he is culpable in the event of more things untoward.
“President Jonathan should note that his legacy of a democrat and respecter of rule of law is daily being eroded by a kitchen-battle which his cronies altercation with Amechi has unfortunately degenerated to.
Okechukwu also saluted “ the Speaker and Honourable Members of the House of Representatives for their uncommon resolve, and patriotic stand on the Rivers State turmoil. For the Senate the Mighty had fallen.
