Results released Monday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was leading with a very wide margin to beat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan.
Of the 876,369 total votes cast, 834,259 were valid while 42,110 were rejected.
From the results collated by Prof. Abubakar Bagudo, the State Collation Officer, of the valid votes of 834,259, the Buhari scored 671,926 votes against Jonathan’s 152,199 votes.
The results from the 23 local government areas of Sokoto state were as follows: Binji LG – APC 16,478, PDP 4,722; Bodinga LG – APC 25,084, PDP 6,816; Dange/Shuni LG – APC scored 31,036, PDP 6,918; Gada LG – APC 38,139, PDP 5,686 and Goronyo LG – APC, 28,950, PDP 7,664.
Other results are Gudu LG – APC 13,811, PDP 7,744; Gwadabawa LG – APC 34,929, PDP 5,951; Illela LG – APC 33,847, PDP 8,287; Isa LG – APC 19,535, PDP 10,618; Kware LG – APC 25,256 PDP 5,339; Kebbe LG – APC 22,345, PDP 3,802;
Others were Rabah LG – APC 19,887, PDP 4,994; Sabon Birni LG – APC 42,879, PDP 9,225; Shagari LG – APC 26,696, PDP 6,396; Silame LG – APC 18,922, PDP 5,029; Sokoto North LG – APC 44,705, PDP 8,687; Sokoto South LG – APC 48,900, PDP 11,048.
