Ripples have continued over the call by Arewa Youth Forum ,AYF on Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state to step down from his position as the chairman of Northern Governors’ Forum .In fact two groups met in Kaduna to denounce the AYF .
Even more, Nothern Emancipation Network and and Arewa Youth Parliament in a statement after their Kaduna meeting expressed support for Governor Aliyu. The groups also threatened to expose top government interest they accuse of sponsoring the AYF
Thes development confirms Newsdiaryonline report earlier of disquet over the attack on Babangida. Whether this may be a prelude to mudslinging in the months ahead as northern interest groups battle to control the poltical turf ahead of the 2015 presidential race remains to be seen.It would now however seems that youth groups are becoming pawns in the hands of northern political heavyweights.
