Nigeria Identifies With The Objectives Of IDB Group-Sambo

Vice President Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo stated that Nigeria identifies with the primary objectives of the IDB Group.

The vice president made this statement today at the opening ceremony of the 37th Annual General Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group Board Of Governors Meeting holding in the Sadaka International Conference Centre, Khartoum, Sudan.

Arc Sambo solicited the continued support of the bank in Africa’s development particularly on areas of poverty alleviation and the economic development of the vulnerable segment of the society. “We all know that no endeavor is more worthwhile than the development of human capital, investing in poverty alleviation, advancing the frontiers of Science and Technology, improving our individual economy and economies of member countries and by extension the global economy.” He said

The vice president expressed Nigeria’s appreciation to the governors of IDB member countries for their leadership role in steering the affairs of the bank. He also thanked the president and his executives for their competent management which has led to the bank’s successes even during the global financial crisis where they weathered the storm.

Arc Sambo assured of Nigeria’s continued support and commitment in partnering with the bank in providing the developmental needs of member countries.

In his remarks, president Omer Al-Bashir of the Republic of Sudan, who declared the meeting open, commended the developmental initiatives of the IDB and thanked the group for its support to the economic development of his country in the face of the harsh economic situation imposed on it by sanctions.

The vice president was accompanied by governor Idris Wada of Kogi State.
