Malam Ali Mohammed Ali, the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has pledged to rebrand the agency’s operation to maintain its premier position in the African continent.

Ali made the pledge during his maiden meeting with the management and staff of the agency at its corporate headquarters on Tuesday in Abuja.

The MD, who described the agency as a leading content provider on the Africa continent, said NAN has a workforce that was quite inspiring given its reputation over the years.

He assured that he would ensure regular interactive meeting with staff with a view to have a common vision to take the agency to a greater heights.

He said NAN over the years had set the standard for others to follow in reportage, saying ” as a young reporter myself the dream was to work in NAN.

” I see us rebranding NAN, a place that everyone one of us will be proud to part of this epoch making process. Like I told some of my friends that held a small reception on Monday.

” I said look when I exist from NAN, I expect people to also hail me. Now you are hailing me when I’m leaving and I hope to God will leave in grace.

” You will all assemble here and say oh! Ali you done your best, then I will turn around and say you guys did the work not me. Mine is to identify the vision.

” And that vision is encapsulated in the Renew Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu. We will work it to the latter collectively.”

Ali, therefore, pledged to focus on the Editorial Operation being the content provider and the most important department.

” The focus, the onus is on the Editorial Department. Any other department is providing support to the Editorial Department without any prejudice to the other departments.

” Because the primary focus of any media organisation is news gathering. If we don’t gather news, if we don’t provide news, we will be out of business.

” All of us will go home into retirement. Certainly I always say I’m too young to go into retirement and I can imagine nobody wants to go into retirement unless of course their time is due.”

The MD, however, solicited the cooperation of the agency’s staff toward the realisation of his vision for the organisation.

He promised to run an all-inclusive administration, saying “my own approach is open door and I will always be available.” (NAN)
