The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Mr David Emmanuel-Ombugadu says he will prioritise and boost agriculture, if elected as governor.
Emmanuel-Ombugadu, who also a member of House of Reps (PDP-Akwanga/Nassarawa Eggon/Wamba), made this known on Monday while fielding questions from newsmen in Akwanga.
According to him, he has distributed over 2,400 bags of fertiliser to his constituents in the last seven years.
The lawmaker said that he was in the governorship race to bring the much needed positive change to the state.
“Majority of my constituents attach much value to agriculture.
“To help in boosting food production, over the years, I have distributed over 2,400 bags of fertiliser apart from the pesticides, insecticides among others.
“I will also give attention to the agricultural sector in order to boost food production and the socio-economic development of the state.
“Giving adequate attention to the agriculture sector will go a long way in boosting food production thereby fighting poverty and unemployment.
“It will also increase the revenue base of the individual and that of the government, agricultural importance is enormous, hence the need of my government to give attention to the sector, if elected,” he added.
Emmanuel-Ombugadu also promised to prioritise rural development in order to improve the living conditions rural dwellers in the state.
“I will build bridges to link various communities for attention to be given to rural electrification in order to boost their socio-economic activities,” he said.
The PDP governorship hopeful promised to justify the people’s confidence, if given the mandate to govern the state on March 2.
He stressed that he had done a lot as a federal lawmaker toward improving the people’s quality of life in his constituency.
“Everybody can testify what I have done as a lawmaker and if elected as a governor, I will bring the much needed positive change to the state,” he added.
Emmanuel-Ombugadu is the Chairman, House Committee on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria control, appealed to the people of the state and Nigerians to vote for him and all other PDP candidates during the forthcoming general elections.
He gave assurance that PDP would end poverty, hardship by bringing the desirable change, if given a second chance. (NAN)
