Mr Elisha Agwadu, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), House of Representatives candidate for Obi/Lafia in Nasarawa State, has dismissed speculations that he has sold out to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Agwadu, a former deputy speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, told newsmen on Thursday in Lafia that the allegations were false.
He assured his supporters that he would not betray their loyalty.
The allegations were that he had compromised his candidature for the house of reps candidate of the PDP of the constituency.
According to him, there has never been any arrangement, agreement or meeting between him and any other party’s candidate since he joined the race.
The candidate blamed the speculations on his political detractors and his opponents whom he said wanted to gain cheap political popularity.
He challenged whoever was behind the unfounded speculation to come out and engage him publicly if he had the facts.
“I have come a long way with my people and my supporters, I cannot afford to betray their loyalty, I am not a betrayer like them. I don’t take decisions without consulting my people.
“A good politician does not tell lies, he engages in issue-based campaign, people should be careful with these desperate politicians who go about telling lies to gain cheap popularity.
“I am not part of the compromise, I am still in the race, I am a straight person, therefore nobody can dribble me from the decision of my supporters and people,” he said.
Agwadu, however, warned his opponents to stop deceiving themselves as candidates that stood better chances of winning in the forthcoming election, saying that power belonged to God. (NAN)
