The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) says it is improving safety by deploying new technologies in the area of navigation aids in the nation’s airports.
The Acting Managing Director of NAMA, Mr Mathew Pwajok made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to Mr Buki Ponle, the Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
According to him, the move is imperative to strengthen security and safety in aviation industry across the country.
“We are making effort to ensure automated radars are used in our airports. We are targeting to be one of the leading Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) in the world.
“To provide safe, efficient, effective and economic Air Navigation Services to airspace users through deployment of new technologies and dedicated workforce, “ he said.
He said NAMA was ready to deepen relationship with NAN to collectively grow the aviation sector.
Earlier, the Managing Director of NAN, Mr Buki Ponle, said the NAN was ready to promote and make NAMA more visible and better appreciated by Nigerians.
Ponle said NAN had no option than to report objectively and responsibly the activities of the agency.
He said since many people now preferred traveling by air due to security reason, it was imperative that facilities at the nation’s airports be improved.
“Insecurity is what is making more people to travel by air. You need to increase your facility to cope with the development to cater for increased passengers, “ he said.
Ponle said the NAN in the past had set up travelogue in some airports to bring news to travellers and expressed optimism that the product would soon be revived in some airports. (NAN)
