The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), on Monday concluded the 2018 Hajj Operations with the return of 111 officials, comprising some members of the National media team, medical personnel and members of staff of the commission.
The Head, Public Affairs Division of NAHCON, Mrs Fatima Usara, made the disclosure in Abuja.
Usara said that the Executive Chairman of the commission, Abdullahi Muhammad, announced the conclusion of the exercise for the year while addressing newsmen at the departure lounge of King Abdul Azeez International Airport, Jedda, Saudi Arabia.
Usara quoted Muhammad as having appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for ensuring the success of the year Hajj.
She said Muhammad also lauded members of the National Assembly and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, for their roles as well.
According to the boss of the commission, the significant roles they play in facilitating the success of this year exercise is worthy of commendation.
The NAHCON boss also commended Secretaries of State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, their staff, pilgrims and members of staff of the commission for their commitment toward ensuring hitch-free hajj operations.
Muhammad also praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for conducting a well organised Hajj season that had the welfare of pilgrims as its priority.
She said the Chairman, along with a couple of staff of the commission, have stayed behind for mop up duties.
According to her, it is enable them go round Makkah to ensure that no pilgrim is left behind; whether in the hospital, pilgrims’ lodges or anywhere else before the officials finally return.
The 2018 Hajj began in July 21, 2018 with the transportation of over 445 pilgrims from Kogi. (NAN)
