At Last, 63 Abducted Borno Women Escape From Boko Haram’s Grip

Chibok girls“I have just received an alert from my colleagues in Damboa area that about 63 of the abducted women and girls had made it back home. They took the bold step when their abductor moved out to carry out an operation”.Tha t was s Abbas Gava, one of the official of a Vigilante group .
He confirmed that 63 out of the 68 women abducted two weeks ago from three villages of Borno state by Boko Haram gunmen had escaped captivity .
“For now we don’t have much details of their escape yet, but all we know is that God gave them the opportunity at the time the Boko Haram terrorists went to Damboa and attacked the security outfits there, killing 12 soldiers, five policemen. The soldiers said they shot over 50 Boko Haram members”,Gaya added
He continued “Going by what we have, there are still some five women and girls, among them is a nursing mother that are missing for now”
A security officer told journalists that half of the women who escaped made it to their homes, while others who were found wandering in the bushes near Adamawa state are now in the custody of soldiers in Gulak town.
“Yes, the women have escaped and some of them are currently with the soldiers somewhere near Gulak town in Adamawa state, while about half of them have made it home.
Reports on the 22nd of June, said at least 60 women and girls were abducted in a Borno village by gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram.The abduction was carried out in Kummabza, a 25km away from Lassa town in Askira-Uba local government area of Borno state.
But security and government officials actually denied that such abductions took place.
However, over 200 Chibok school girls remain under the captivity of Boko Haram.Efforts to secure their release have yet to yield any tangible result yet.
