They mislead journalists with supposed authentic reports that are totally false.
The most recent of such regrettable acts,he said was the information given to one of the Foreign Radio Stations to the effect that some unknown persons had invaded Nassarawo Koma and Koma Verre where 18 persons were allegedly slaughtered like rams. “This is false, malicious and regrettable. Those who supplied the Radio Journalist the information did so out of sheer wickedness and mischief”,the statement said .
Continuing, the statement said “The Director Press and Public Affairs, Government House, Yola in company of a Special Adviser to the Governor and a Radio journalist visited Nassarawo Koma on Sunday, 1st June, 2014 on a fact finding mission on the subject matter. There was a meeting at the Palace of the District head of Koma where the seven (7) village Heads, Imams, Pastors and Community leaders expressed shock at the news of killings in their localities. At the end of the meeting, both the District Head and the Village Head of Chomcha were the two communities’ belonged spoke to journalists asserting that nothing of the sort took place in the area.
“Adamawa State Government appeals to citizens to please be vigilant and security conscious. Members of the public should try and avoid romour mongering and passing false information to Journalists on all matters especially those that concern security. Scare-Mongering will only worsen our already precarious situation.
“We therefore wish to re-assure the public that no such attack took place in Koma or any where near Koma as reported by the Radio Station. The story is totally false. We urge all citizens to be vigilant, law abiding and committed to peace. Communities should monitor activities within their localities and report any suspicious characters to security agents at all times”,Nyako’s spokesman said.
Adamwa is one of the three states in the north east of Nigeria under state of emergency in the aftermath of Boko Haram insurgency.Nyako recently upped the ante when he controversially accused the federal government of carrying out genocide against the north through the battle against insurgents.
