Katagum Emirate passes vote of confidence on Gov. Abubakar

The Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Farouk II has commended Governor Mohammed Abubakar for the numerous infrastructural development projects in the critical health, education, water and road sectors, some of which he said were completed and awaiting commissioning while others are ongoing.
The Emir who made the statement on Tuesday when he led the people of Katagum Emirate on Sallah homage to Government House in Bauchi, said the Governor had fulfilled his promises to the people of the Emirate.
“The road projects undertaken by your administration in Azare and other parts of my Emirate have not only beautified Azare town, but have remarkably reduced accidents that have been claiming people’s lives for a long time. We therefore appeal to you to look into the rehabilitation of some other township roads in Azare to reduce the cases of flooding that have been recurring during rainy seasons,” the Emir said.
“I am sure Your Excellency is not aware of the state of the General Hospital, Azare, which has been working without the necessary equipment and conducive environment befitting a hospital, particularly power generating sets.
“This sorry state of the most important state-owned hospital has forced our people in Azare to resort to the Federal Medical Centre Azare that is beyond the reach of the common man,” the Emir added.
He applauded the Governor for appointing Architect Audu Sule Katagum as the new Deputy Governor, stressing that Katagum “is an experienced, loyal and trustworthy person to work with.”
Farouk II also commended Abubakar for consulting widely with stakeholders from Katagum Emirate to ensure that the appointment reflected wider views of the Northern senatorial zone, to which the office of Deputy Governor was zoned.
“Your Excellency, I must also commend you for cherishing friendship that has lasted over decades, which is a sign of good leadership quality found in few people that attain power. That you have kept relationship that lasted over four decades makes you a good leader.”
The Emir assured the Governor of the new Deputy Governor’s loyalty to the administration and added that Audu Katagum has upheld the good virtues of his late father, Alhaji Sule Katagum, the Wazirin Katagum who left public without amassing wealth until he after retirement when he ventured into private business.
The Emir said Governor Abubakar has shown concern to the plight of victims of the Azare fire incidence, and applauded him for “offering the victims 1,000 bags of rice, 1,000 bags of millet and 1,200 gallons of oil as immediate relief material to alleviate their sufferings before real assessment of their situation was completed.”
The Emir further stated that “We are aware of the efforts you are to making to temporarily relocate the market before the commencement of reconstruction, which you plan to do to the market with modern facilities that befit markets of modern cities,” and revealed that over 90 million naira has been realized as assistance from individuals and corporate bodies to the fire victims.
While commended the Emir and the people of the Emirate for the homage, Governor Mohammed Abubakar assured of completing ongoing projects initiated by his administration.
Governor Abubakar directed the state ministry of Works immediately asses the condition of Azare General Hospital and submit a report.
