In case you missed it: FRSC promotes 4,660 personnel

Sequel to the approval by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha and in line with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Board approval on the recently conducted promotion exercise, the result of the 2017 promotion exercise has been released. Consequently, a total of 4,660 personnel of the Corps benefitted from the exercise.

According to a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Corps Commander Bisi Kazeem, 1,310 of those promoted were Officers, while 3,350 were Marshals. “Among them were 73 Deputy Corps Commanders, 51 Assistant Corps Commanders, 70 Chief Route Commanders, 150 Superintendant Route Commanders, 607 Route Commanders, and 359 Deputy Route Commanders,” he stated. .

Kazeem further disclosed that among the 3,350 Marshals that benefitted from the exercise were 29 Chief Inspectors, 33 Deputy Chief Inspectors, 48 Assistant Chief Inspectors, 201 Principal Marshal Inspectors, 467 Senior Marshal Inspectors, 525 Marshal Inspectors, and 2037 Road Marshal Assistants comprising of, 257 Chief Road Marshal Assistant, 45 Deputy Road Marshal Assistant, 768 Senior Road Marshal Assistants, 889 Road Marshal Assistants I, and 78 Road Marshal Assistants II whose promotion took effect from 27 November, 2018.

Speaking on the exercise, the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi while congratulating the promoted staff, urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through improved productivity. He stressed that Management will continue to reward hard work, excellence and improved productivity by the staff, noting that indolence and indiscipline will not be condoned . He also assured that the integrity of the FRSC promotion exercise will continue to be protected and charged those promoted to intensify efforts at ensuring that they improve in productivity in their new ranks.

It would be recalled that in line with its philosophy of Consultation, Reward and Punishment (CRP), FRSC Management instituted annual promotion exercise to address issues of staff career progression and backlog of promotions.

..Deploys  35000 personnel for Christmas, New Year
 

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 35,000 personnel across the country in preparation for Christmas and New year. This includes both Regular and Special Marshals.c

Corps Public Education Officer,   Bisi Kazeem made this known to journalists in Abuja, on Friday.

He said the effort was part of activities to commence its ‘Operation Zero Tolerance for Road Traffic Crashes’ which began Wednesday, 19 and would last to Jan. 15, 2019. 

“FRSC has defined an operational order;  we have the operation zero tolerance to road traffic crashes to combat the menace of road traffic crashes around this period.

“We have made deployment of both regular and special marshals close to 25,000.

“We have also deployed patrol vehicles, advanced life support ambulances, heavy duty trucks, patrol motorbikes, reflective jackets,  breathalyzers among others.”

He explained that the measures were all in a bid to make sure that the roads were accident-free.

Kazeem further said that the corps’ objectives during the festive period included ensuring free flow of traffic, reduction of crashes to the barest minimum and quick response to distress.

“We want a situation where people will be moving freely without any hitch and in a situation where we have any crash, there should be quick response to distress situation.

“There will also be enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations  because education and enlightenment without enforcement is just like entertainment.

“So many people will not heed to our call and we have to enforce the law and make sure they heed to our call by all means,” he said.

He further said that 201 mobile courts had been set up nationwide meaning that some people might eventually spend their Christmas behind bars.

The public education officer said the corps had employed patrol strategies  including having 24 hours visibility along 52 critical corridors and conduct of mobile courts.

“We also have 13 traffic control camps at traffic prone areas for ease of operation and quick response to traffic issues.”

Kazeem said the camps were located in Lagos, Mowe, Lokoja, Gwagwalada,  Ore, Okene among others.

He urged drivers and motorists to drive to stay alive as Oynly the living celebrate.

On the part of passengers, Kazeem called on them to be active by cautioning drivers on reckless driving saying life had no duplicate

He noted that FRSC’s Call Center number ‘122’ was open to all in case of any emergency and obstruction.
