#TrackNigeria: Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state has said that the militarization of elections as well as the operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on rerun election day did not deter the people from expressing their choice of who leads them.

He spoke in a media chat with ‎Journalists at the Government House in Sokoto Monday.

“I and the people of Sokoto state will never forget the strength of the figure‎ 342. There is power in the figure 342, which God made possible. The people of the state spoke in that figure and we will do our best to work for them to the best of our abilities.

“In the history of elections in Nigeria, there never been any so militarised like this. There has also not been any election on which day the operatives of the EFCC ‎were let loose to intimidate people against us.

“In ‎spite of the suppression of the people by use of security agencies and the EFCC, they stood their grounds and fought back with 342 too reelect us.

“As usual, we will continue to provide good governance for the benefit of the people of the state,” Tambuwal said.

He debunked reports that Sen. Aliyu Wamakko and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed congratulated him.

“As I am talking with you, neither the APC governorship candidate, nor Sen. Aliyu Wamakko called to congratulate me. It remains in the realm of speculation,” he said.
