FUT Minna V-C inaugurates another tricycle scheme

Prof. Abdullahi Bala ,Vice -Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, has inaugurated the second phase of FUT, Minna Microfinance Bank Tricycle Scheme.

In a statement issued in Minna on Saturday by Mrs Lydia Legbo, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Bala said that the scheme was to address the problem of inter-campus transport system.

He commended the managements of the bank for introducing the tricycle scheme, noting that the scheme would enable the university to address so many problems on campus.

He expressed the belief that the tricycle scheme would address the problem of inter-campus transport system by providing means of transportation for students within the campus.

”The problem of transportation will be addressed with these tricycles since they will be deployed to commute within the campus and it will help to improve on the availability of transport vehicles for staff and students,” he said.

On the use of the university colour for the tricycles, Bala noted that it would contributes to the effort of the university management at boosting security on campus.

He said that the identity of the tricycle operators would not be hidden which would boost confidence in members of the university community.

He congratulated the bank on the laudable initiative and expressed optimism that subsequent arrangement would follow suit by using the customised colour.

He stated that the scheme would also address the problem of youth unemployment by providing opportunity for youths to be employed and have a reliable source of income to enhance their livelihood.

He said that some of the beneficiaries were from the
university host communities and that the gesture was a perfect way for them to know that the university recognised them as critical stakeholders.

He, therefore, advised the beneficiaries to strictly adhere to the terms of the leasing agreement and to see the tricycles as their personal property.(NAN)
