FRSC partners NDLEA to curb drunk driving in Katsina

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Katsina State Command, has sought partnership with National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to curb drunk driving in the state.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Katsina State Command, has sought partnership with National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to curb drunk driving in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the commission also solicited the agency’s support to take campaign against drunk driving to motor parks in the state.

Mr Aliyu Ma’aji, the FRSC Sector Commander, requested for the partnership when he visited the NDLEA State Commander, Mr Mohammed Aminu-Abubakar, on Thursday in Katsina.

Ma’aji stressed the need for sensitisation of motorists in the state to create awareness on the dangers of drunk driving.

He advised that the sensitisation would also be taken to schools, trailer parks, as well as commercial motorcycle and tricycle parks.

The commander explained that the decision to embark on the collaboration was aimed at enlightening drivers and riders of motorcycles on the ugly trend and the need to abstain from it.

Ma’aji observed that the sensitisation would go a long way in reducing fatalities on the roads, noting that lots of accidents occur due to drug abuse by drivers and riders of motorcycles.

In his remarks, the NDLEA State Commander, assured of the agency’s full support to FRSC’s programmes.

Aminu-Abubakar expressed dismay over the way many youths embraced drug abuse and called for stakeholders’ joint efforts to curtail the menace.

He expressed the readiness of the agency to participate in all activities of FRSC during the ember months, with a view to contributing to the fight against drunk driving.(NAN)
